Windows update keeps running (hangs)

    HELP :(
    I have been trying to do a windows update for some time now, but it keeps scanning and scanning with nothing. Hangs.
    My windows defender does the same thing when trying to update.
    I haven't had a update in windows update since Dec 5, 2016.
    I have a Vista 32 bit. Please help
    Will be looking for anyone's reply
