Windows Update Service Crashing, and crashing other services

    We are running WSUS V2 and we have 30 to 40% of our clients can't keep the
    update service running. It scans the computer then crashes. And when it
    crashes, it takes down 10 to 15 other services with it. Usually
    :Server,workstation,browser,Windows Audio,error reporting service. This is
    making it really hard to get the DST update out to everyone. I have tried
    installing a new WSUS server, and on the affected machines deleting the
    contents of the Software Distribution folder. But on many computers nothing
    helps.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi,
    If you are using Microsoft Update, then there are some known issues with
    Windows installer (msi.dll) which can cause crashes in WU service.
    Please download the MSI hotfix from
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927891
    and see if that resolves the issue.
