I downloaded what I thought was the 64 bit version of Virtual PC 2007 for use
on my Vista machine. It appears to have instaled in the x86 section of my
programs. Is this correct? Or should I try again? I also want to take
advantage of virtualization technology of my processor (an AMD 6000+ X2). How
would I go about configuring that?

Yes, this is correct, it's really 32-bit, but the host drivers are
64-bit, that's why it a separate installer from the pure 32-bit
    version.
