Windows xp 32 bit to windows vista 65 bit

    Is it possible to go from windows 32 bit to windows vista 64 bit in a clean
    install or do i need to previously have windows xp 64 bit?

    I have the windows ultimate upgrade version and i have windows xp pro 32 bit
    and when i tried to install the 64 bit version it didnt let me.

    You would have to boot with the 64 bit DVD. 64 bit setup cannot be started
    from the 32bit desktop.

    I got my 64bit vesion in the mail today (upgraded from 32bit home to 64bit
    home). However...no instructions on how to install! I tried from desktop,
    doesnt work, but botting from windows startup worked, BUT there's no CD key
    that came with it...so do I use the cd key I have for windows home 32?

    Yes the one key will work for either the 32bit or 64bit. Only one can be
    installed at a time. There is no in place upgrade path from 32bit to 64bit.
