I have had my WinTV-PVR 500 card installed in my Media Center PC and running
for 2 months and I have a problem that I cannot resolve.

Setup: Preceding my Media Center PC are (2) Scientific Atlanta Digital
Explorer 3100 STB’s. One of the STB’s feeds the coaxial input out my
WinTV-PVR 500 card and the other STB’s feeds the S-Video and the L/R audio.
I have digital cable on channels 3-8 and 100 and above.

I have installed the latest drivers (12/15/05) for the WinTV-PVR 500 card.

On the channels that are broadcast in digital the colors are very dark and
the screen is filled with a grid or black dots. This problem does not occur
    when viewing analog channels.

Does anyone know of a fix for this problem?

I'm looking for any help on this problem.

I'm having a problem with the dark colors on the channels that are broadcast
in digital. The dark colors seem washed out. It happens on dark on dark
colors. In addition, skintones are too orange. I have digital cable on
channels 3-8 and 100 and above. The problem only exists on these digital

I have swapped out my STB's & the WinTV-PVR-500 card and ALL drivers are
up-to-date. Hauppauge has no answer and I can not find any info anywhere on
    this type of problem.

Could this be a decoder problem?

    Please help if you can.

This is a common problem, the default video-grabbbing settings for video on
the PVR150/500MCE is out of wack. You really need to tweak the input,
saturation, brightness and contrast. You can do this with the "Tweaker
    ** Hauppauge card Tweak Tool
"With the Hauppauge Tweak Tool several advanced settings can be changed that
are not accesible with the normal software."

Will this Tweak Tool work with NTSC broadcast?
