WMDC wants to sync pocketpc as just a media device

  1. Sprint 6700.

So, I plug my pocket pc in. Vista Business recognizes it as being called
    "pocketpc".
When i go into the sync center, i try to set up a new partnership. there
are no other currently set up. It sees it as "coda" which is the name I
gave it when it sync'd with Vista RC1. Now, though, it only will offer it
to be sync'd as a media device, not as a pocket pc. i've restarted, plugged
and unplugged, I would rather not reset the device. I hope it doesn't come
to that. How do i get it to sync as a pocket pc? Thanks for your help.

Don't feel bad. One of the improvements in Vista is that it will recognize
mobile devices and allow you to move files back and forth, without
installing any WM specific software like ActiveSync had to be previously.
Now you can go to your friends house and connect your PPC and share files
without him having to do anything special. Couple that with the existence of
Sync Center, and it isn't obvious you need yet another program, Windows
Mobile Device Center to sync PIM stuff with Mobile Devices.
