I hate to jump on the "WMP 10 was rushed out the door" bandwagon, but every
time I use this program, I find another oddity or bad design decision.

Today's frustration is caused by the Advanced Tag Editor. The "year" tag is
missing. This is strange considering the trouble the programmers went
through to give us tags like "beats per minute" and 6 different fields for
    "artist".

  2. Bad design IMO.

Exactly, and what is worse is that even if you use the field "Date Released"
(which is not the year but can be used so), all your informations will be
changed again if you have other settings in the "Year" tag from the original
file, which easily can be wrong information from the internet for example the
year of the CD (2004) and not the year of the song (an oldie from 1965)!
And the field "Date Released" in Media Player can not overrule what's
allready written in the field "Year" from the original file!
Really bad design and idiotic thinking from Microsoft! DO IT BETTER!
