WMP 11 "Debugger error" in Vista C00D2767

Discussion in 'Windows Media Player' started by Kyle Strachan, Sep 11, 2008.

  1. Windows Media Player 11 no longer plays DRM-protected content. I get the
    following error message:
"Running this process under a debugger while using DRM content is not
allowed." C00D2767. This comes up if I click to play any DRM track. There is
no extended discussion about this error anywhere.
I am not running any 'debugger,' nor have I loaded any software recently. I
noticed it one reboot after I disabled some of the Services in Vista. After
restarting those services the problem hasn't gone away. Have I missed one?
What services are required for the smooth running of DRM content?
Thank you in advance to anyone who can help.
    Regards,
    Kyle.

  2. Solved it myself, and it was indeed a self-inflicted problem, but nothing to
do with any services in Vista. I thought I would post the solution in case
any one else needs it in the future.

    Run MSCONFIG
    Click the BOOT tab
    Click ADVANCED OPTIONS
    Uncheck DEBUG under DETECT HAL
Dismiss ADVANCED OPTIONS dialogue by clicking OK
Check MAKE ALL BOOT SETTINGS PERMANENT in MSCONFIG dialogue
    Click APPLY
    Click YES to warning dialogue
Dismiss MSCONFIG dialogue by clicking OK
Restart (essential for new boot settings to take effect).

    Kyle.
