Glenndisk's problem seems a lot like mine. I installed WMP-11, and when I
ran it , everything on my computer started running very slow. I brought up
task manager, and it showed that 100% of my CPU was being used. I have an
AMD Athlon CPU, 1G ram, g-force graphics (5500). I tried all permutations,
and even just by itself, WMP-11 hoggs the CPU. I can run Winamp (the new
5.23 release), Outlook, Maxthon, and Word 2007 together, without running over
    13% of the CPU (usually around 5 - 8%).

Would like to use WMP, but not practical until something is done about it's
appetite. Does anyone know what's going on?

Idem dito... I have also the same problem. WMP runs for like 5 minutes great.
But then the processor-calculations go through the roof. I have 3Ghz Intel
processor on my acer travelmate 2700, with 512mb ram. Even when nothing else
is running, and some processes are shut down manually, the WMP really forces
my processor to impossible efforts. A buffer overrun perhaps?
Hope an update for the problem comes soon!!!

Me too, the performance on wm11 is horrible. I can't use the progress bar to
andvance the video unless I click on "pause" first and then click on the
progress bar. Luckily it's only beta...

Soon as I unticked the 'privacy' settings my cpu processes dropped back to
What on earht is MS actually doing with those privacy settings to demand
    100% cpu usage?

Hi, im also experiencing the same problem when i play my songs in WMP. Im
using P4 computer with 1GB of ram and processor speed of 2.8Ghz. I tried
unticking items in the privacy tab as u advised but my CPU usage is still sky
high. I noticed that this problem started after windows update restarted my
computer. It's not the first time that this happened. The first time it
happened was also after i did my windows update. The lag mystieriously
disappeared after one week though. But now its back again. Please help!
