WMP 11 Library won't ignore folders I've set to ignore!

I am trying to delete everything in my WMP library and rebuild it from only
certain folders, to reduce clutter when I use my XBox 360 to access the
    library.

BUT, even though I've set *every* folder in the monitoring settings to
"ignore", after I delete all of the pictures in the library, WMP
automatically starts churning through and adding back all of my pictures. I
even tried deleting the 'CurrentDatabase' files to see if that would help,
    but of course it didn't.

I do want pictures in the library, but only certain subfolders of My
Pictures, not the whole darn thing. Why doesn't the 'ignore' setting work?

I don't want to use the "don't add files previously deleted" function as a
band-aid because I don't want new files to be pulled into the library unless
they're in the subfolders I choose.

What is going on here? Is this a known issue?

Are these a subdirectory of your Rip folder? What's that set to?
    What folders *are* monitored?

It got to the point that I had set *every* folder to "Ignore" just to see
what would happen, and then deleted everything from the library. Then, sure
enough, WMP slowly starting adding things back from My Pictures, on its own
    initiative. It was very bizarre.

I got annoyed with it and just moved the stuff I didn't want in the library
out of My Pictures altogether, and deleted the library again to start over.
That seemed to band-aid the problem.
