i have ripped dvds to my hard drive and put them in my personal folder called
videos (vista 64 bit). no matter what i do using the monitor folders option
wmp will not acknowledge that there are movies in that folder. yet when i
double click on the movie, wmp 11 will play it perfectly. the file extensions
are the same as the original dvd. video_ts audio_ts etc......
    what am i doing wrong?

no it doesnt show up in other media either. all the video files that i have
saved in my personal "videos" folder show up under the "videos section of the
library" except for the "movies" folder that contains my dvd ripped movies.
it is like WMP doesnt see the folder yet i have specifically asked for that
    folder to be monitored

It sounds like the file types you are using are not supported by Windows
Media Player by default as supported file types. If you were attempting to
add new file types in, you would need to add registration for those types.
There should be documentation on MSDN for this.
