WMP not showing CD (movie) even though it has been seen previously

  1. Hi, Im really stuck with this problem! My WMP is not showing CD (not DVD and
    its a movie) even though it has been seen previously on my other computer.
    Instead, It is showing all the visualizations. I have turned the
    visualizations off, only to have a black screen! It is playing the audio, but
    not the picture!Please help!

    You need to install the appropriate video CODEC that was used to encode the
    video. Two commonly used ones are XviD and DivX, both of which have some
    support for 'generic' mpeg4 videos as well. Alternatively FFDSHOW filter
    will decode dozens of different video and audio codecs.

    Are you referring to a Video CD (MPEG) or a data CD? A VCD or a SVCD is
    narrowly scoped to mean two discrete video decoders, a data CD could contain
    any number of file formats.

    What's the file format in question?
