    I use:
Mobile device Qtek 8310 (sartphone) with Windows Mobile 5.0,
    ActiveSync 4.1,
1GB storage card, The storage card works, I can copy files.
    USB connection,
    Windows 2003 Server SP1.
    Windows Media Player 10,
    I logged as Administrator.

I get message in ActiveSync: "To sync media, you must set up a partnership
with a 32MB or larger storage card. In Win Media Player, click the Sync tab,
select the storage card, and click Setup Sync." The WMP's Device Setup Wizard
does not appear, instead I see "No device has been detected. Press F5 to
refresh the Player." on the Sync tab.
I see Display, Speakers, CD-RW, but no my device on Devices tab (WMP).

All other information types (Contacts, Calendar, etc) sychronize fine.

  3. In addition, most users have found that it is much easier, faster and
trouble free to sync WM content directly to your storage card using a
card reader rather than the activesync connection.

Dear Raj Pillai, thank you for support!

The problem is that I'm using Windows 2003 Server SP1 and I cannot
    install/uninstall WMP10 (Install AS4.1 -> Uninstall WMP10 -> Install AS4.1 ->
Install WMP10 -> Repair AS4.1) WMP10 is not indicated in AddRemove Programs

A guy from myQtek support wrote: "you need to download the latest Windows
Media Player 10 from Microsoft.com and re-installl it. After that you must
uninstall ActiveSync 4.1 and then install it again. ItÒ‘s very important that
you disable every PC security software before you install ActiveSync again."

Maybe I need special WM10 for Windows 2003 Server? Windows 2003 Server
indicated in the list of compatible OS (see readme.doc provided with
    Any suggestions, please....

I can copy all media files directly to storage card even without card reader.
I see all folders and files of Qtek1030 in Windows Explorer on PC (when
ActiveSync loaded). I can play them without any problems.
But using Sync is more easy than copy, I think... but now not sure :)

  7. But using Sync is more easy than copy, I think... but now not sure :) <<

1 - card readers are cheap... normally around $15 but often cheaper,
    sometimes free

2 - card readers transfer files to and from memory cards _many_ times
    faster than activesync

3 - there are known problems transferring large files using activesync

4 - WMP "sees" memory cards as "sync devices" and _syncs_ media content
directly to these cards... I wasn't referring to "copying"

Get a card reader... using activesync to access a ppc's memory card is
simply generating unnecessary time, effort and pain.

Did you try the resolution in the previous KB article? It doesn't need you
to reinstall WMP10. It instructs you to repair the AS 4.1 installation.

    Dear Raj,
    I never reinstalled WMP10, because:
    1. I have no WMP10 for Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1.
    2. WMP10 is not listed in Add/Remove Program list.
I think, WMP10 could not be installed/uninstalles as seperate allpication on
Windows Server 2003. (the version of my wmp.dll is

I reinstalled AS4.1 many times. It's not helpful.

    Kind regards,
