Everything in Windows Media Player 11 is fine- except for the fact that it
won't remember anything I do. I tell it where to find my media files, yet it
never finds them- even when I let it sit for a couple hours! And even when I
drag and drop a song to my Library, it still doesn't work. This also happens
when I open a song. It won't remember that or my rating.

    Hi Cory,

Sorry that I can't be of help to you...but seeing your post helped me. I
had deleted a couple of tracks from my WMP11 library and I wanted to add them
back. Playing the audio file from the folder location did not add the
previously deleted track back to the library. But by dragging and dropping
the file to the library, they were restored.

Cory, was this installation on a fresh computer?

I recently reformatted my computer, and noticed that there was a Windows
Media player 11 beta available, so I jumped in and grabbed it. Low and behold
I got the same error as you.

Since then I have reverted back to WMP v.10, but if that was the case for
you too, I could go back and try to troubleshoot it.
