WMP11 impacts Windows Media Encoder - Neil ?

Discussion in 'Windows Media Player' started by Jim [1032106], Jul 21, 2006.

  1. Installation of WM11 significantly degrades the performance of Windows Media
    Encoder.

    e.g. Converting typical Movie VOBs to WMVs used to take 2.5 hours and now
    takes 5 (and up to 12 hours under Vista Beta 2)

    DECCHECK reports: -

    MainConcept MPEG-2 Video Decoder (mcm2vd.ax) 1.0.197.6322 MCE Compatible:
    yes Preferred: No
    NVIDIA Video Decoder (nviddec.ax) 4020.196.0.0 MCE Compatible: yes
    Preferred: Yes

    I have created the VOB file using DVDDecrypter.

    Without the MainConcept codec WME does not always convert the entire VOB. No
    errors are reported.

    In addition I am using AC-3 filter 0.70b 3/2+SW 5.1 channels for the
    audio decoding.

    I mention Neil Smith as he was previously going to take a look at this as
    other users reported the same problems converting from many other formats.
    Neil, if your out there ? Otherwise any help or suggestions appreciated.

    The WME profile I use is as follows: -

    <?xml version="1.0"?>

    <WMEncoder major_version="9"

    Do you have the registry key
    HKCR, CLSID\{D3984C13-C3CB-48E2-8BE5-5168340B4F35}
    on your system? What are the values under there?

  3. I don't have that subkey on my system (Vista 5472).

    What information are you interested in understanding ? I may be able to
    provide an answer another way.

    Thanks for your help :)

    If you're using 5472, you should be taking your issues to the private beta
    newsgroups and dealing with your issues via Connect. You are being afforded
    via the beta process special opportunities, and you do yourself and me a
    disservice by not taking advantage of them. =)

    Right, this newsgroup here is REALLLLLY not monitored. The beta newsgroup
    has some minimal monitoring, but Connect is where the smart person goes with
    their issues. =)
