    Hi there,

I have trawled the net for solutions to this issue and cannot find a
solution that works. Previously I had enabled media sharing between my
PC and PS3. All worked fine until I installed some new grpahics
drivers and Mass Effect (not sure if these are linked to the issue or
    not).

Since then media sharing does not work. If I start the service it
stops immediately and the Event Viewer reports error 0x80004002. UPnP
and SSDP Discovery services are both working. WMP reports an error
that "Media sharing is currently disabled, either because the sharing
service is not running or your firewall settings have changed" WMP is
    allowed through the firewall (windows).

I am using Vista 32 Home Premium and any help would be appreciated,

    thanks,

    Hi there,

a quick update - I have noticed that when closing WMP, despite the
window closing, the process is still listed as running. Again, I'm not
sure if this is linked to the issue, but it does seem rather strange,

    thanks,

Can you add a folder to WMP's Tools:Options:Library:Monitor Folders menu
    option?

    Hi,

Thanks for the response. I can successfully add new folders to
monitor. The sharing service still starts and stops immediately,

    thanks,

That's E_NOINTERFACE. Can you System Restore to before that change... ?

  6. Hi Zach,

thanks again for taking the time to respond. I have checked my restore
points and unfortunately none date back that far. Are there any other
    options I could try?

    thanks,

    Vimes
