New to AD. Our Server 2003 is currently configured as a workgroup standalone
server with shared folders which users access from their WXP workstations.
In order to better manage the users and resources on the network, we want to
move to Active Directory. My question is can I install AD on the server and
slowly add users/workstations to the AD but still allow the other users to
connect to the shared folders through the workgroup? Or, once I install AD,
do the local accounts I have setup for the users to login to the server and
    use the shared folders disappear?

    Thanks for any help.

Once you promote your server to a DC it will loose its local security
database and therefore any local users that you have setup.
