    Hello,

A colleague cannot get ws_ftp to work from a workstation. He does have
ISA client working on this PC - there must be more to this?!

    Thanks

  2. ISA2K? ws_ftp should work through the firewall client, mine does.

Does it fail on all sites or just...

Client and server settings and whether the site uses, options, or prefers
PASV could be relevent. What shows in the connection window?

    Hi Geoff,

Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.

From your description, I understand a user can not get ws_ftp to work and
he has install ISA client. If I have misunderstood your concerns, please
don not hesitate to let me know.

Would you please to help me to confirm the following information?

    1. Does the problem occur in other clients?
    2. Have you applied the latest IE 6 SP-1 patch on your clients? If not, I
strongly suggest that you upgrade to the latest IE version.
    3. Does the problem occur if you use IE to access the FTP site? Please try
to use different FTP client mode ''FTP PORT Mode and PASV Mode'' on your
clients for testing purposes. You may refer to the KB 323446:

323446 How to configure Internet Explorer to use both the FTP PORT mode and
    the
    http://support.microsoft.com/?id=323446

    4. When you configure the clients to use FTP PASV Mode, please also
configure ISA to use Passive mode:

    http://support.microsoft.com/?id=300641

Hope the information help and I look forward to your reply.

    all workstations
PASV is selected in ws_ftp and it has the same settings as I have at
home for the site we wish to connect to.

    what else should I check?

    Cheers

    Hi Geoff,

    Thanks for your reply.

Would you have tested all my suggestions? Please double confirm if you can
access the FTP site using IE in problematic workstation?

I will look forward to your test result. Thanks again!

    Best Regards,

    Kevin,

It is the ISA that came with the SBS 2000 - no updating of the ISA has
    taken place ...

    Hello,

I have just tried using ws_ftp on the SERVER (not a workstation) via
remote desktop connection from home and when I try to connect to a
site I see the IP of the site coming up and then

connection failed <web site name> host unreachable

    Does this give a clue?

    Cheers

    Hi Geoff,

    Thanks for your reply.

From your information, I can still not make sure it is a server side
problem or client side problem. So would you please to help me to confirm
if you can access the FTP site using IE in problematic workstation?

When you configure the clients to use FTP PASV Mode, please also configure
    ISA to use Passive mode:

    Security - http://support.microsoft.com/?id=300641

I look forward to your test result.
