Your help is much appreciated :)

I need to deploy WSUS in a NON ACTIVE DIRECTORY environment.
My WSUS server is already up and running. I need my windows 2000 and 2003
machines to attach to the WSUS server.
I do not have group policies. We are still in an NT environment and it is
    non active directory.

Do I have to install an automatic update client software on the servers?
Where do I find this software? I have been looking for days and cannot find
it. All the servers already have the latest service packs.

Do I have to make changes to the registry of the servers? Do I have to
    write any scripts?

I appreciate your help in advance.

Since you are not running AD, which makes a good central place to modify
group policy, you must configure each machine the same way. Open gpedit.msc
on each machine in the computer settings, administrative templates, and
within the windows update folder there are settings to turn on windows update
to the options chosen. I am quite sure there is a way to make a template for
each type of computer or you could automate it by making an autoit-type
script to change the settings. anyone want to help with what tools to use? or
if you can copy templates for local group policy? I only work with AD...

  3. The best way to 'template' the policy is to configure the policy on one
system of each 'group' using LOCAL POLICY,
and then export the registry key:

This registry key can then be imported/merged into all of the other systems
of that same 'group' using logon scripts, email attached distribution of the
REG file, or a web-based download of the REG file.

It is not necessary to pre-install any client software on the Windows 2003
    or Windows 2000 systems.
If you have Windows XP RTM systems you will need to install Service Pack
1/Service Pack 2, or the WindowsUpdateAgent20-x86.exe client software.
Windows XP SP1/SP2 systems do not require any additional client software.

All systems (except Windows XP RTM) will obtain the updated client software
from the WSUS server once the registry is configured.
