I am having issues installing WSUS on a Windows 2003 member server. The
application server role has been defined and BITS 2.0 has been installed.
This server is fully patched except for SP1.

I receive this error when installing WSUS:

Microsoft Windows Server Update Services could not configure the
administration site or some of the virtual directories. For more information,
see the Setup log "C:\Program Files\Update
    Services\LogFiles\WSUSSetup_050608_1915.log".

    Contents of the log file:

OS: Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition English

I am installing to the default website and am using the English
    installer from the Microsoft site.

This server is also running DHCP, WINS, and Symatec Security Center.
Symatec Security Center allows anti-virus clients connect via FTP to
download new definitions. The FTP server used by SSC is not the IIS FTP
    server.

The application server role has been defined, ASP.NET allowed, and I can
connect to this server via the web.

Let me know if you need any more info.

    Thanks,

  4. Nick, can you zip and send me all logs in the %program files%\update
services\logfiles directory? Also, include this thread in the email so I
can remember why you're emailing me.

  5. Can we a copy of the IIS metabase file
    (%WINDIR%\system32\inetsrv\MetaBase.xml).
The think is that this can happen when the WebSvcExtRestrictionList entry in
the IIS metabase is empty or contains only one line.

    Thanks.

WebSvcExtRestrictionList is not found anywhere in the file. I did not
find the entry in the MetaBase files on my other web servers either.

  7. I have similiar problem (described here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsser...8033-03f2-4e1d-9abf-359cb340633d&sloc=en-us);

the difference is that the error message looks like "2005-06-23 13:40:06
    Error IISCustomAction Command /Install
FailedSystem.ArgumentNullException: Значение не может быть неопределенным.
    2005-06-23 13:40:06 Error IISCustomAction Ð˜Ð¼Ñ Ð¿Ð°Ñ€Ð°Ð¼ÐµÑ‚Ñ€Ð°: val ...."

i've checked the think about the WebSvcExtRestrictionList entry in
the IIS metabase - in my case it is OK (neither empty nor it contains only
    one line);

perhaps, there is another faulty metabase value... the question is how can i
determine which value is causing the problem?
