could someone point me in the right direction, thanks

    1) current system configuration :

    dell branded server
    SBS2003 + sp1
    sharepoint services installed:
( i saw a reference to a problem but it appeared to be a needed correction
    after install)

system had sus on it but was uninstalled before beginning the wsus install

    2) during install I keep getting the following error:

    ------------------------

above is the error that seems to trigger the install failure
    * the two (2) accounts appear to be DELL generated accounts relating to the
Machine name and they are in the AD

  2. Yes.. this is symptomatic of attempting to install WSUS on an OEM SBS2003
system, particularly the Dell, but it has been reported on other OEMs as
    well.

There is no published fix, nor even a known cause, for this at the moment.

Is there anything that can be suggested to look at? The command file is
deleted before I can see it . Is the install is trolling for users or
administrative users with some special properties, more to the point these
accounts are in the directory what does the error mean.

    Thanks
    Ted

  4. Yes- There is now a published workaround proceedure that will allow you to
install WSUS on the OEM preconfigured (with mini-setup) SBS servers which
previously failed the installation. There is an explanation of why the
issue occurs as well. Check the 3rd issue here on the WSUS wiki.
