XP 64Bit installation USB devices

  1. Acronis True Image can compress its backups and image files, it will be
able to backup to a smaller drive but of course there is a limit to the
compression that can be achieved. I have never tried TI trial or
evaluation versions so I cannot tell you what limitations it might have.

  2. It is unlimited. The only requirement is that you enter the license info by
the end of the trial in order to continue use. When I set up a new rig I
download and install the trial and order the retail copy from NewEgg (costs
only half the price on the Acronis site) and simply convert to permanent by
entering the license key that comes in the retail box when my NewEgg
    shipment arrives.

  3. Now I think of it, I can't remember how I actually do it. But even if you
reinstall, your backups are still available.

    Hi John,
In this case there is a GUI interface installation setup which installs
into Windows. It took me a few days to work this out but installed the
drivers that way into Windows then installed the card with the second
harddrive attached and and rebooted and the harddrive now works ok.

Colin, the motherboard has a single sata conector.

  7. Unless you mean external, I have never seen a mobo with fewer than four. I
have 10, 4 for raid, 4 solo, and two external eSATA ports for external
devices. What board only has one SATA connector?

My 3 year old Gigabyte mobo only has 2 SATA-1 ports :(

  9. Hmmm. I guess having plenty of SATA controllers has been a priority with me
for years so I would've always selected a mobo with that in mind. Have you
    considered an add-on card?
