My problem is similar to previous post, only mine relates to my USB Hard
Drive not being recognised.. at Device Manager I get the Yellow Exclamation
Mark but when the Hard Drive is connected every few seconds the screen
refreshes alternately showing the Yellow Exclamation Mark. I have tried
removing and re-boot but this does not work.

I would appreciate help Thank you.

    Sincerely

  2. Take a look in the system event log to see if any issues are mentioned
there. It could be a bad hard drive. Are you running this thru a hub or
directly into the USB port? Do you have multiple USB ports and if so does it
    occur on all of them?

You could try deleting (in Device Manager) your USB controller, then reboot
and MCE/XP will reload the driver software.

Thank you Dana Cline; I believe I have tried the usual suspects, such as:
deleting usb controller, checking Hard Drive and usb cable on another PC,
trying other usb ports, I'm not using a hub, all other usb ports work with
    other hardware.

After checking for 'yellow exclamation point' problems on google, it would
seem this is a very common problem, there is also lots of info on MP XP help.

I found what seemed to be the REGEDIT solution from Doug Knox on this site
but his post related to DVD drives and before I go ahead I need the HKEY
location for USB external hard drives.

    Sincerely.
