XP Editions

Discussion in 'Server Setup' started by Andrew Johnson, Jun 7, 2004.

  1. I'm planning on setting up a server, primarily for the purpose of using
    roaming profiles.

Can WinXP Home use user profiles on a 2003 server?

  2. Windows XP Home Edition cannot join a domain and thus will not be subject to
domain authentication and group policy etc.
Roaming profile use implies domain based authentication since you need to be
able to logon at any PC.
To achieve this functionality you will need to use Windows XP Professional.
