XP64 will only but w/ a cd in the drive

    Not the install CD mind you....ANY CD. Dual booting XP and XP64 on two
    seperate drives. Without a CD in the CDRom drive....XP64 will hang at the
    desktop image..with "applying your settings". Waited for a few
    minutes...nothing. Just happened to forget and leave the mobo driver cd in
    the drive on one of many restarts and the damned thing booted all the way
    in. I've tried several cd's and they all allow XP64 to boot. Please someone
    tell me whats up.

    I'd start checkingwhat's going on with the programs loaded at startup.
    Run msconfig (Start, Run, msconfig <ENTER>) and check (better "uncheck")
    what programs are present during startup.
    There might be something there trying to read from de CD.
