I have Windows XP Pro with SP1. I have all critical
updates that I need. I just updated to Windows Update v5.
In v4 it had a list of all udpates that I had on computer
(name and date installed). v5 does not. Is there a way I
can get the list or find out what has been installed?
Also I have 12 optional updates that I can install. Three
    are for xpsp1 (KB810243,817778, KB822603). I will google
to read what they are for, but my question is this. I am
going to update, when available, to xpsp2. Do I need to
have these optional updates for xpsp1 for xpsp2 to work?
I also have update 327979 and Q322011 to install. Are
these needed also for xpsp2 to work? Any help with this
    would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Hi

You can install SP2 without installing any specific updates first...

installed. Optional stuff is still your pick; however, some optional items
may become mandatory with SP2. Cannot quote any, but SP2 brings considerable
    change.

    Hello,

If you participated in the Beta for V5 a change in controls did remove the
installation history list, however, it should maintain it going forward. If
you still have the Iuhist.xml from V4, typicaly located here:

    C:\Program Files\WindowsUpdate\V4\

You can still see the updates that were made while using V4. Also, I'd
recommend installing all updates when offered. Don't wait for SP2.
