Why does my WLM give the error message?
"The Message could not be sent
You must specify some recipients for the message"

When I have the addresses I want to send the message to in the To address
So far when I get this error message, the only way I can get my WLM to send
    messages is to reinstall WLM.

Hi Scotty, I started having the same problem with one specific contact,
and discovered two workarounds which solved this problem for me.

    1. Highlight the e-mail address in the "To:" field, then cut it and paste
it back in the "To:" field. This changed the format of the address and the
    error no longer occurred.
    2. Delete the contact and redo it.

Thus, I think it was a corruption of that contact that caused the error
    message for me.

Well Scotty, that's not good. At least you found yourself a solution.
More information is needed though for anyone to try and track down the cause
of this. I don't think this problem has arisen for anyone else that has used
    this newsgroup.

To cover all the bases -
    - What operating system are you using?
    - Are your using Windows Live Mail Beta 12.0.1184 rather than Windows Live
    Mail Desktop Beta?
    - Has the problem reoccurred since you reinstalled it? Is it happening now?
    - Can you think of anything that occurred just prior to this problem
    happening? (such as a crash)
    - You said it occurs when entering an address from any of your contacts, and
even if you enter an address that is not in your contacts, does it also
occur when you open your contacts and right click on a contact and select
"send E-mail ....."? What about when you choose "reply" to an e-mail
message? What about when you 'paste' an address into the field? What about
when you cut the address you place in the "To" field and paste it back into
    the "To" field?
    - Does it also occur when you are sending a message to a newsgroup? (If you
    click on
you should be able to subscribe to this group)
    - Does it also occur if you are not signed in through Windows Live Mail?
    (Tools / Options / Connection / Remove Sign-in account).
    - Does it also happen if you only type an address into the "Cc" field or
only into the "Bcc" field before trying to send an e-mail? (you would need
to go View / All headers to show those fields.
    - Does the Auto complete feature activate as you are typing in an e-mail
address? Does it still occur when you select an address from the Auto
    complete list?
    - Anything else you can think of that might help...

    Hi Peter

I'll see if I can answer some of these questions for you, as im having this
    exact problem.

windows XP media center 2005 (SP2 and fully up-to-date on updates)
    Dell E520 P4 3.0ghz
    1 gig ram.

This morning I was running on version 8, but I could no longer use hotmail
    due to this error.

"Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server. There is an error
synchronizing your mail account. Please verify your account has been
configured correctly by first accessing your mail on the web. Server:
    '', Protocol:
HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Client is requesting a deprecated version of the
service. User should upgrade to the newest version of the client', Port: 80,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 4109, Error Number: 0x8DE00002"

I found out there was a new version, So I closed the current running version
of WLM (but not uninstalled) - checked task manager to ensure that the
    program wasn't running.

Then I ran the installation for the new version (version 12.0.1184). This
installed and loaded up as you'd expect. This was now synchronizing all my
    mail accounts correctly.

I’ve tried removing my contacts and starting again, I’ve tried BCC, CC
fields, removing the account and re-attaching. I’ve tried using other mail
    accounts- not just hotmail.

Yup the auto complete feature works when typing in the address book.

    This is interesting..

I noticed that my "Contact details" were blank, so I re-populated them using
WLM client. and then proceeded to send a test email to one of my other
accounts.. This was successful! However, I went back to my “contact detailsâ€
and all the fields were blank again ??? – re-populated them and this time it
    failed to sent.

I’ve checked my details on and all the fields are shown
correctly.. I’m guessing there is an issue with the live mail database
    holding its data.

Just to make sure it’s not my PC, I’ve ran a through scan of my PC with

I’ll let you know if I find anything else.
