As I was trying to add a new contact to my MSN Messenger, I got this error!

Is there a limit to the # of contacts in MSN Messenger? I really cannot
delete any one from my current contact list. And I need to add this new
    contact.

    What can I do???

  2. Greetings Ed,

Yes, you can only have 150 contacts on your main contact list.

You'll need to remove someone from your main contact list -- however be aware that people
whom you remove you can still contact you (assuming you don't block them) and will simply
remain on your "Allow" list. You can view your "Allow" list by clicking the Tools menu, then
    Options, then Privacy tab.

As well, you can send messages to contacts that are on the Allow list by right-clicking on
the Messenger icon in the system tray/notification area, choosing 'Send an instant message',
click the Other tab, and then type the Passport e-mail address of the contact in question.
So if you have any contacts which you just want to be able to contact you, but don't really
speak to on a regular basis, you can simply remove them in order to add the new contact.

Thanks for your quick reply. While the work-around is ok, 150 contacts are
a bit limiting. Can that be increased to 500 contacts, or even 1000 in the
    next release?

  4. Hi Ed,

Agreed. Keep in mind that this limit is imposed by the server, not the client. As such,
there are some technical limitations here.

I don't see it as being out of the realm of possibility in the future however.

I am having this same problem but I have not reached the 150 contact
limit. I have less than 30 contacts on my main contact list, yet I am
unable to add any more, even if I delete some. I'm running version
    6.2.0137 of MSN Messenger.
